A section of the public have raised concerns about the numerous Police Barriers and check points all over the country especially in the city of Accra, questioning their value to crime check. The Police however, say the check points continue to serve important purposes, particularly in combating crime. But in what way do these check points help in crime control? Radio Ghana finds out from the Director of Education of the Ghana Police Service DSP Alexander Obeng who tells us more about the significance of maintaining the check points to deter criminals. Meanwhile, DSP Obeng says the Road Safety Commission and the Police will team up to check drivers who are illegally using outlets on the Tema Motorway to avoid the payment of road tolls. He told Radio Ghana that tax evasion is an offence punishable by law and those who would be arrested would be prosecuted. GBC
