Speaker of Parliament lauds Ghana's democratic strides                                                                                                  

The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Ocquaye, says the democratic experience in Ghana has been refined through the years and will forever count on partners like the USA.  

Professor Ocquaye said this when the US Ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson, called on him at Parliament House, Accra.  

He said championing a symbiotic relationship with the Executive will be key in his tenure.

The US Ambassador, Robert Jackson, said his country has over the years supported Ghana due to the ideals of democracy, world peace and the protection of the public purse. 

He announced the visit of some US legislators to the country soon. 

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said Ghana still has a lot to learn from the governance architecture of the US. He said properly strengthening all committees in Parliament can help curb corruption.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrissu, said the country remains committed to respecting the rights of all.
