The Daily Graphic urges Parliament to speed up the vetting process of ministerial nominees to enable the new government to take shape and begin its work. It asks the vetting committee to act in the interest of the nation and not on political lines. The Graphic believes that although some of the nominees were ministers in the Kufour era, they should not be waved through the process but must be properly appraised based on their understanding of current trends whether  they are adequately prepared to take up the responsibilities that go with their appointments. The paper is of the view that the Appointments Committee will be doing the country a lot of disservice if they assume that some of the ministers designate are already substantive ministers and clear them.           

The Ghanaian Times says the much-heralded African Cup of Nations Tournament will roar off in Libreville, Gabon, today with 16 teams’ all-too-ready to dazzle away with the crown. The paper says the Black Stars have promised the nation to bring the elusive trophy down by hook or crook. It urges the players to put issues of bonuses and allowances aside and dash for the jugular. The paper also urges the football populace, and indeed, all Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars and offer the team a moment of prayer as they march to Gabon in search of the missing Holy Grail.
