Scrapping of taxes won’t affect revenue if properly done - Mike Afflu The immediate Past President of the Ghana Chartered Institution of Taxation, Mike Afflu, says the decision by government to scrap some taxes to lessen the burden on Ghanaians will not affect revenue if the move is done in a proper manner. Citing the VAT on financial services as an example, Mr Afflu indicated that the removal of such a tax will not affect revenue. He tells Radio Ghana that government needs what he termed a Tax plan to ensure that the needed revenues are generated for national development. Mr. Afflu also reiterated the need for government to widen the tax net without necessarily increasing taxes. He said it is important to rather ensure tax compliance. GBC
