Man 'contests' termination of appointments by new government

A man Theophilus Donkor, is challenging the constitutionality of removing members of Governing Boards of Public Corporations from office with the assumption of a new President.

According to Mr Donkor, per the constitution, Public Corporations are statutory bodies and as such, its members are entitled to constitutional protection which includes security of tenure and prohibition against removal for unjust cause. 

He argues that members of the Governing Board are public servants and therefore cannot be removed merely on the account of a change in Government. 

Mr Donkor has accordingly filed a suit at the Supreme Court invoking its original jurisdiction to declare the act as unconstitutional. 

He is also praying the court to perpetually restrain any person from removing any board member of Public Corporations from office on the assumption of office of  a new President.
