Nana Ankamu Otabil commends Accra Golden Lions Club Chief of Gomoa Ankamu in the Central Region, Nana Ankamu Otabil, has commended the Accra Golden Lions Club for the hunger relief project it executed in the community. He said this when the Accra Golden Lions Club organised recreational activities and fed the children there. Nana Otabil identified teenage pregnancy as one of the major social challenges the community is facing. He said teenage pregnancy has become a vicious cycle and single mothers living under poor conditions are not able to cater for their children. The men take advantage of the vulnerable girls, impregnate them and leave them to their fate. He expressed worry about the neglect of the community especially by well-placed people who come from the area but they do not return to motivate the young ones and serve as role models for the children to strive for higher education. According to Nana Otabil the community has never benefited from social interventions like the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty, LEAP. The main occupation of people here is farming and when there is no rain life becomes so unbearable that the men abandon the women to cater for the children alone. The President of Accra Golden Lions Club Frank Ayivor, said the body is committed to helping the community. GNA
