President Mahama Affirms Ghana As Beacon of Pan Africanism

President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana will continue to be the beacon of Pan Africanism.  

He said this is mainly because the country was the first in sub-Sahara Africa to be liberated from colonialism. The President was speaking at a ceremony at the Du Bois Centre in Accra to grant Ghanaian citizenship to thirty-four Diasporas.  

Secretary to the President Ambassador Kwesi Quartey, a former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration played an instrumental role in the process to grant these citizenships. 

President Mahama, who is himself a historian, was excited to receive the Diasporas as citizens.  

He urged them to remain committed to the ideals of Pan Africanism, which he described as priceless.
