Ghanaians' mark boxing day with family gatherings, beach parties and picnics 
 
Ghanaians' marked the Boxing Day with Family gatherings, beach parties and picnics characterize Boxing Day celebrations. 

Boxing Day is a day that is traditionally celebrated a day after Christmas. 

The day is also called St. Stephen's Day, and marked as a religious holiday. 

Boxing Day can be traced back to the Victorian era, when churches often displayed a box into which their parishioners put donations.  

This tradition has come to stay as Boxing Day and is now associated with the exchange of gifts among families, friends and loved ones.
  
However, some children are of the view that Boxing Day is a day designated for fights.

In Ghana, many people took time off work and school to spend Boxing Day with friend and family members at the La Pleasure Beach as part of activities making the Christmas festivities.

At the La Pleasure Beach, holiday makers were seen engaging in all forms of activities including swimming, walking, horseback riding, dancing, playing football and many other activities which gave the perception that they were ‘enjoying themselves’.
     
There was security presence to ensure peace and safety among the merry makers.

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) continued its Christmas package of entertaining the young audience with maiden Xmas Village event at the forecourt of the corporation, (ZOY Gardens).
