President Buhari orders investigation of alleged corrupt government officials

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into corruption allegations against top officials in his government. 

The probe is expected to focus on the acting head of the anti-corruption agency, Ibrahim Magu, and the government secretary Babachir Lawal, who is part of his "kitchen cabinet", or inner circle.
 
Mr. Magu is alleged to have accepted a house from a retired air force general - a charge he has denied.

In a report by the Senate last week, Mr. Lawal was also accused of diverting about 800 thousand dollars of government money meant for rebuilding areas battered by the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east of the country.
 
He has also denied the allegations.
