International AIDS Day marked Today is been marked as International AIDS day. The day which is celebrated around the world on December 1st each year has become one of the most recognised international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness and to commemorate those who have passed on, and to celebrate victories, such as increased access to treatment and prevention services. Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon says thirty-five years since the emergence of AIDS, the international community can look back with some pride but must also look ahead with resolve and commitment to reach the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. He said since 2010, the number of children infected through mother-to-child transmission has dropped by half and fewer people die of AIDS related causes each year. GBC
