Recent clashes between NDC, NPP supporters condemned

The Director of the Yendi Peace Center, Reverend Father Michael Cobb has condemned recent clashes between the NPP and the NDC in parts of the Northern Region including Yendi and Wulensi. 

He said the development does not augur well for a peaceful atmosphere on Election Day and asked politicians to call their followers to order. 

Speaking at the opening of a peace building workshop in Yendi, Rev Father Cobb asked the media to avoid providing politicians the platform to spread hate speech. 

He noted that, the use of indecent language is on the increase, and if not checked, could mar the upcoming elections. 

The workshop was organized by the Yendi Peace Center with support from USAID. 

Reverend Father Cobb explained that, the training aimed to prepare key stakeholders to identify and respond to early warning signals in the upcoming elections. 

He appealed to religious leaders to use the pulpit to preach peace and tolerance. 

The elections are sixteen days away and there are concerns over potential conflict in some parts of the country including 81 locations in the Northern Region, classified as flash points.
