NDC debunks claim of attack on Nana Akufo-Addo’s residence" The Greater Accra regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has debunked claims that its members orchestrated an attack on the home of Nana Akufo-Addo. In a statement, the NDC said they have evidence to prove that some NPP members launched the attack on NDC supporters. According to initial reports, chaos erupted at the Nima residence of the NPP flagbearer on Sunday morning after some participants of an NDC Health Walk allegedly pelted the house with stones and broken bottles. The situation, escalated when the NDC supporters began defacing posters of Nana Akufo Addo, and the security men at the residence fired warning shots in the ensuing chaos. According to the security officers in Akufo Addo's residence, it was the only way they could protect the property and lives of people in it the house because the police looked on while the items were pelted at the house. However, the NDC say they have presented photographs that prove that the attack was launched by some gun-wielding NPP supporters who were at the Flagbearer's residence. They said members of the NDC in the Greater Accra region have been attacked by the NPP supporters on countless occasions and they will not tolerate it anymore. "We will therefore, not take any foolishness of the NPP anymore in this region from henceforth and we are sending this strong signal to the NPP to caution their hooligans to refrain from any more attacks on our members," the statement read. They called on the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor and the National Security Coordinator to step up their game and "protect the nation from nation wreckers." The Regional Chairman of the party, Ade Coker at the press conference, criticised the police for not dealing with a number of cases where their NPP opponents attacked them. "We can't allow our people in the region to be maltreated, pushed around at...they come to us and we appeal to them to be calm...we are asking the state authorities to take action immediately, in their failure to do that, we will also react accordingly," he warned. The Greater Accra Regional Minister assured that he, as the head of the Regional Security Council is committed to ensuring a peaceful environment for the elections. Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo hinted of a Regional Security Meeting (REGSEC) meeting to discuss the Sunday morning incident at Nima.
