22nd October, 2016 Justice Needed For Peaceful Elections is how the Daily Graphic captures its editorial. The Paper says the continuous calls for peace by various bodies is in the right direction as it will be a constant reminder for people who may want to perpetrate any violence on that day. To the paper ,the fact that the country has experienced six consecutive elections does not mean that the call for peace is unnecessary as pockets of violence were recorded in some parts of the country in previous elections. The Daily Graphic believes that the December polls offers Ghanaians another opportunity to demonstrate to the whole world that Ghana is truly the beacon of democratic governance and that is why Ghanaians must play by the rules and not to create the impression that anybody is above the law. The Ghanaian Times believes that for a country fortunate to be located on the Gulf of Guinea with a vast stretch of the ocean available to explore and exploit, it beats one's imagination that Ghana is spending colossal amounts of money to import fish to feed its citizens. This comes against the backdrop that the Minister of Fisheries Madam Sherry Ayitey has reportedly revealed that the country imported over 135 million dollars of fish in the year 2013. The paper says, a huge chunk of the country's foreign exchange earnings went into fish import. The Times believes the sector requires more support and drastic change from the current method of fishing. The paper also advocates appropriate measures to effectively drive foreign fishers in Ghanaian waters away. GBC
