UNFPA calls on developing countries to prioritise girls’ education

The United Nations Fund for Population Activities, UNFPA, says appointing some percentage of women to high offices is not enough to bridge the inequality gap between men and women. 
 
The proper data to check the progress of young girls through the education ladder has also not been prioritised by governments in developing countries hence the retrogression of girls in almost all aspect of development.

UNFPA Country Director to Ghana, Dr. Babatunde Ahonsi who made these sentiments as part of activities to mark the Day of the Girl Child in Accra said girls are an important population instrument and so their wellbeing must attract the utmost attention by all governments across the world.
