First batch of pilgrims arrive to joyous welcome The first batch of 504 pilgrims who were airlifted directly from the Tamale international Airport to Jeddah to perform this year’s hajj have returned home today, Thursday 22, 2016. The pilgrims who onboard a Saudi aircraft, Boeing 747 touched down at exactly 3:40 PM. The obviously excited pilgrims were happy and relieved to back home. Excited family members mobbed their relatives who returned from the once in a life-time journey for many. The remaining batches will arrive daily till they all return home by the end of this month. Addressing journalists at the airport, the Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Abdul- Salam thanked Allah for guiding the pilgrims throughout the period. Sheik Ahmed also prayed for the soul of the Ghanaian pilgrim who died in Mecca as well as for the live of a baby who were born in the Holy city of Mecca. The Northern Regional minister, Abdallah Abubakar also congratulated the pilgrims for embarking on the holy journey. GBC
