The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will soon disburse the second compact of more than 400 million dollars to Ghana, to be invested into the Energy sector. 

President John Mahama, says what will be done now is to bring all stakeholders on board to engage on how well to utilise the compact. 

This came up at a meeting with the Chief Executive of the MCC, Dana Hyde, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. 

President Mahama, also had bilateral meetings with the President of Guyana David Granger and the Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Coata. 

Meanwhile President Mahama, will today address the UN General Assembly.

In an interview, the President said his address will dwell on Ghana's engagements on the international scene and the country's own modest gains over the years. 

Ghana has already accessed a first compact of 547 million dollars. The compact was committed to poverty reduction strategies. 

This second compact of 498.2 million dollars , also to run over a five year period is not only geared towards transforming the energy sector but also bring on board, private sector investments in the power sector. 

Ghana is priviledged to have met the eligibility criteria because the first compact was used perfectly for the intended purpose. 

 The second compact to be accessed soon comes in handy especially at a time the country faces energy shortfalls. 

The Millennium Challenge Account was a proposal by US' former President George Bush, in the early 2000's to assist developing countries to grow their various sectors. 

Earlier, President Mahama, had bilateral talks with the President of Guyana, David Granger and the Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa. 

According to him, the two countries have expressed interest in establishing Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation. 

Portugal has also extended an invitation to President Mahama, to visit that country.
