Diarrhea second largest cause of under-5 deaths- WHO UNICEF records reveal that globally, diarrhea remains the second largest cause of under-five mortality within six hundred thousand children dying each year. The same records reveal that every day, diarrhea kills one thousand and 400 children under five. Diarrhea diseases are also associated with a higher risk of low weight and developmental delay which is as a result of lack of safe water, sanitation and basic hygiene practices. It is against this backdrop that the TEN Partners under the “TEN WASH IN SCHOOLS PROJECT”, (TWISP) presented one hundred and 50 buckets to 31 schools within the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region to promote proper hand washing.
