Dr. Ibn Sa-eed elected NPP candidate for Karaga

A public Servant, Dr. Sulemana Ibn Sa-eed has won the New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries for the Karaga constituency of the Northern Region. 

He polled two hundred and eight (208) votes to beat two others contestants.  

His closest contender, a former District Chief Executive for the area, Baba Wahab polled one hundred and sixty-eight (168) votes whilst  Fidaus Basha had twenty-eight (28) votes.
 
The re-run of the primary was necessitated following the resignation of parliamentary candidate elect, Shaharawi Bashiru as a result of ill health. 

The election was scheduled to take place at Savelugu as a result of security concerns but was later deferred to Karaga after the party agreed upon. 

Thirty eight (38) delegates did not participate in the exercise out of the total 442 delegates. 

The elections commenced at about 10:00am and ended at 3:10pm yesterday. 

Dr Sulemana Ibn Sa-eed in his victory speech urged supporters and executives to rekindle the unity of the party to snatch the parliamentary seat from the governing National Democratic Congress’s party. 

He also called for peace and unity in the rank and file of the party to help canvass more votes in the December polls.  

The First Vice-Chairman of the Party, F.F Anto who graced the exercise charged all party executives to bury their difference especially in this crucial moment and work closely to enable the party to win the elections. 

According to him, Ghanaians are yearning for positive change as a result of the current economic hardship and it is only the NPP who can lead that crusade. 

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission lead by its District Commissioner, Samuel Quah.
