CJ Urges Board Of Directors To Be Team Players The Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, says greed and bad human relations exhibited by some board members in steering the affairs of institutions have resulted in bad governance and bitter relations between management and staff. Mrs Wood said running an organization, be it in Accountancy, Healthcare or Legal requires team work from both the top hierarchy to the bottom and not the autocratic behaviours mostly experienced. Speaking at the 2016 Presidential Luncheon of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana in Accra, which focused on “Effective Governance in organisations”, the Chief Justice said board members must serve and be interested in the rudiments of effective governance bearing in mind they can be sanctioned if they go against the law. President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, Christian Sortti said the role of Accountants goes beyond issuing of cheques to that of a watchman whose responsibilities among others is to ensure proper checks and balances aimed at strengthening the overall financial stability in their organisations.
