NDC inaugurates Upper East Regional Campaign Taskforce Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has charged the Upper East Regional Campaign Taskforce of the NDC to work hard as quickly as possible to resolve all lingering disputes following from the party’s parliamentary primaries last year. The taskforce he said must also help to campaign vigorously and mobilise the electorate for a decisive victory for President John Dramani Mahama and all the parliamentary candidates in the region. Inaugurating the 15-member taskforce in Bolgatanga, Mr Amissah-Arthur urged the taskforce to collaborate effectively with the parliamentary candidates, the regional and the constituency executives for a resounding victory for the NDC. The Coordinator of the taskforce, Dominic Azumah, who is the sitting MP for Garu-Tempane, pledged to increase the votes of President Mahama from 66 percent in 2012 to 80 percent in 2016. He said the record of NDC’s unprecedented development in the region will form the basis of their campaign. Mr Azumah was confident that though the responsibility is a major task that has been given to the taskforce, it is surmountable. Mr Azumah described as misinformation that the contractor working on the new Upper East Regional Hospital and the Garu District Hospital has abandoned the projects. He said the contractor wanted to do all the seven district hospitals simultaneously and that made the construction very slow. Mr Azumah said the contractor was advised to concentrate on one hospital at a time and complete it before moving to another site and has explained the low construction activity. He assured residents of the region that work will soon continue on the two hospitals. GBC
