IDEG urges reforms in local governance

The  Institute for Democratic Governance, IDEG, is calling for reforms in the Local Governance System to broaden participation and end exclusion. 

Under the proposed reforms, IDEG, wants Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, Assembly Members and Unit Committee representatives elected on partisan basis. 

IDEG also wants the 30 percent government appointments into the assemblies abolished. 

A senior Research Fellow at IDEG, Kwesi Jonah made this known at a forum on strengthening Democratic Development through multi-party based Local Government, with Ghana, South Africa and Kenya in focus.
