PURC directs ECG to put in contingency measures or...

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, to put in place contingency measures to serve customers. 

The directive comes as a result of ECG workers embarking on strike due to government's intended concession of the company.  

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Director of Public Affairs and External Relations at the PURC, Nana Yaa Jantua said ECG offers an essential service to the public that is why it is important to take steps to serve customer needs.  

She said if ECG fails to comply, the Commission will be left with no option than to sanction the company.
