29th August, 2016 Both the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times congratulate Journalists who won awards, at the 21st GJA awards last Saturday. The Graphic says the time for real work in the interest of national development is now as the electioneering approaches. It says the role of the media has risen to the epoch where the sanctity of national unity and freedom must be safeguarded through professional practices. The Graphic says though politicians may attempt to manipulate media workers, the Journalist must remain committed to the national cause. The paper says the 2016 general election is a call to duty and Journalists must be prepared to shoulder it without fear or favour. The Ghanaian Times while applauding the award winners the Ghanaian Times equally commends corporate Ghana for supporting the GJA to sustain the awards over the years. The paper says the role of Journalists is crucial to the development of the country. It therefore calls for more support for them. The Times says this is the only way Journalists can be supported to aspire to be the best in a competitive manner. GBC
