Southern Ghana: 1000 pilgrims flown to Mecca

One thousand pilgrims from the Southern part of Ghana have been flown to Mecca. 

In an interview with GBC's Radio Ghana, the Communications Director of the Hajj Board, Alhassan Suhini, said processes of flying the pilgrims started yesterday with 500 pilgrims taking off from Kotoka International Airport in Accra. 

He added that another batch of 500 pilgrims left this morning. 

Mr. Suhini indicated that about 2,400 pilgrims are yet to join the others in Mecca by the end of the week. 

On the welfare of pilgrims in Mecca, Mr. Suhini said a well-resourced team of health personnel and a taskforce is positioned in Saudi Arabia to ensure their well-being during the three week pilgrimage.
