Be guided in your selection of panel members for discussion- Ayeboafo implores media The Director of Newspaper at the Graphic Communications Group Limited, GCGL, Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo says it is highly imperative for radio hosts to learn and be guided in their selection of panel members for discussion on programmes. Also, the media should not hasten to condemn the use of intemperate language since such unsavoury comments provokes retaliatory tendencies. Mr. Ayeboafo made the call in an interview with Radio Ghana after a town hall meeting involving representatives of the various political parties in Bolgatanga. He observed that for the media to understand issues, policies and principles, political parties and their reps are not the best people to be invited unless they are to seek their views on politics and other related matters. Mr. Ayeboafo also urged the media not to set the agenda for political party commentators to engage in unhealthy verbal exchanges. While giving the advice, Mr Ayeboafo again stressed on the need for political party commentators to respect the views of their opponents and not interject their utterances when they are given the opportunity to comment on an issue. The 2016 maiden edition of the town hall meeting organized by management of the GCGL was on the theme: “Good Governance; Key to the Development and Growth of Ghana”. It brought together various stakeholders including revered chiefs, opinion leaders, departmental heads, representatives of political parties as well as the media and a section of the public. This is a continuation of a similar meeting held in 2012 with the aim to promoting peace ahead of this year’s general elections. After a healthy political debate, six political reps present at the meeting namely; the NDC, NPP, CPP, PNC, PPP, and the APC pledged their commitment to ensuring peaceful election come December, 7.
