25th August, 2016 The Daily Graphic focuses on the coming general election, the role of stakeholders and the neutrality of the commission's officials. The paper cites some unprofessional behaviour on the day of election that are likely to mar the beauty of the whole electoral process. The paper maintains that showing blatant biases for particular political parties will be a recipe for disaster as voters will oppose any move by electoral officials rig the polls. The paper believes competent personalities must be recruited and assigned to collation of results. Such people the Graphic says must bury their individual inclinations in the discharge of their duty to make all Ghanaians winners during and after the polls. The Ghanaian Times describes as a step in the right direction, the EC's decision to involve lawyers and accountants as collation officers in the elections. The paper hopes since this is the first time that these bodies would be engaged to perform such a critical role, the EC will build their capacity and re-orient them to withstand the drudgery of Election Day. The Times supports the unique partnership of EC, Ghana Bar Association and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana and expects a good outcome to enhance the integrity of Ghana's polls and make the country a true beacon of democracy.
