22nd August, 2016 The Daily Graphic advocates protection of rights and dignity of persons with disability. The paper says the rights of every human being including the hearing, speech and visually impaired as well as physically challenged must be protected. This is the reason why the paper says the Ghana Federation of Disability, GFD, is calling on government to implement the UN Convention on the rights of Persons with disabilities, which seeks to protect and promote the well-being of PWDs. The paper says responsible institutions must ensure that persons with disability have equal access to public places. Political parties must make a commitment to ensure that they include disability concerns in their manifestos. The Ghanaian Times is elated about the prospects of an additional oil field, the Tweneboa, Enyera Ntomme, also known as the TEN field, after the Jubilee field, and the benefits it brings as Ghana inches closer to becoming a major oil exporting country. The paper commends the TEN partners, government and particularly the Minister of Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, for the historic development as President Mahama August 18 turned on the valve of FPSO Prof John Attah Mills to signify the flow of the first oil from the TEN fields. It applauds all past leaders of the country for the efforts at ensuring that oil exploration is carried out in the country. The Times pays tribute to all who have in one way or the other suffered in the overall efforts to discover and exploit oil resources. GBC
