Dr. Hilliard Dogbe elected first indigenous Resident Bishop of AME Zion Church                               

The A.M.E Zion church after more than 200 years elected Right Rev Dr. Hilliard Dela Dogbe, as the First Indigenous Resident Bishop for the Western-West Africa Episcopal District. 

Right Rev Dr. Dogbe was elected on 23rd July at the 50th Quadrennial Session of the A.M.E Zion Church General Conference at Greensboro, North Carolina, USA.  

Right Rev Dr. Dogbe contested with two other Ghanaians, Rev. Dr. Richard Mawuli Gadzekpo and Rev. Dr. Felix Ofosu. 

The new Bishop will preside over A.M.E Zion churches in Ghana, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia. 

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, Right Rev Dr. Dogbe described the election as an acknowledgement of the leadership qualities being exhibited by the A.M.E Zion congregations in the  four West African countries which compose the Episcopal District. 

He said his focus will be to empower the youth and the clergy to become transformational leaders who will impact qualitatively on the lives of people in the sub-region

He was elected on 23rd July at the 50th Quadrennial Session of the A.M.E Zion Church General Conference held at Greensboro, North Carolina, USA.
