Damongo Government Hospital workers call off strike Staff at the Damongo Government Hospital in the Northern region, have resumed work after withdrawing their services following attacks on them by some residents of the town. Authorities at the Damango Government Hospital on Sunday closed down the facility following the failure of the police in the area to arrest some residents accused of theft and assault. They rejected appeals by many authorities including the Overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Tutumba Bore Essah'. The situation led to the premature discharge and referral of patients receiving treatment at the Damongo Government Hospital. However, the staff yesterday resumed work after the Police arrested the two suspects. Spokesperson of the staff, Salifu Lukman, told Correspondent Mohammed Fugu, that the decision to resume work was arrived at after the arrest of the culprits. He hinted that, they began attending to patients as of last night. He appealed to various stakeholders to as a matter of urgency produce a written document to assure them of maximum security in the dispensation of their duty. Meanwhile, the two suspects have been charged and are expected to appear before the Bole District Court. The Damongo District Police Comamder, ASP Seidu Wanah, said the arrest was made on Tuesday dawn upon a tip off. He said the arrest of the suspects delayed as a result of intelligence gathering. He however assured workers of the hospital of providing them with adequate security to avert further attacks. GBC
