First direct flight from Tamale Airport to Jeddah for 2016 Hajj begins August 19

The first batch of 500 pilgrims will take off from Tamale International Airport to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Friday. 

This is the first time pilgrims are moving directly from Tamale to Jeddah. 

The National Hajj board said the move will make it convenient for all prospective pilgrims from the three regions of the North who hitherto had to travel to Accra. 

GBC Northern Regional Correspondent Murtala Issah reports that preparations are complete and a Hajj Village has been set up and people are anticipating this historic moment.
