Ghana: Youth In Construction

Despite the enormous opportunities in the construction sector, experts say the youth shy away due to the perception that it involves manual labour and sometimes for school drop outs. Figures from COTVET indicate that only 2.8 percent of the workforce in the sector are the youth, with 97 percent being male. Experts say due to this perception by the youth, various branches in the construction value chain are not being fully utilised to create employment.
