Physician assistants charged to avoid preventable deaths 

Three out of every ten patients in Ghana die each day while in the care of physician assistants. 

These deaths occur because the physician assistants assume the role of doctors and call for help too late.

According to the Medical and Dental Council, physician assistants are to compliment the work of doctors and must know when their role ends. 

Chairman of the Board of the Council, Dr. Eric Asamoah, who expressed these sentiments at the induction of newly qualified physician assistants and anaesthetists in Accra, said every second is crucial to the survival of a patient, which is why practitioners must act swiftly at all times to save lives.
