Elections not do or die affair- Vice Amissah-Arthur Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has again reiterated the need to value and maintain the country’s peace and stability before, during and after the elections in December. He said the election is not a do or die affair and so the tensions that often characterise elections are unnecessary. The Vice President explained that elections are opportunities given people to express their democratic right by voting for persons they want them to lead them at a particular point in time. Speaking at the end of the 2016 National Cadet Corps Leadership Training Camp at the Asuansi Secondary Technical Institute in the Central Region, Mr. Amissah-Arthur said Ghana has chosen democracy and every four years there will be opportunity to vote and be voted for, saying if people don’t win this year, they will have 2020 to contest again. Therefore, there is no need for any tension and people should desist from creating tension through their utterances. He appealed to the youth to remain discipline and avoid engaging in any activity likely to create tension or put the country’s peace and stability into jeopardy. The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Jacob Kor, said the numerical strength of the national cadet corps has grown from 60 to more than 56 thousand, from 62 years ago to date in all educational institutions across the country. He said this makes it the biggest reliable youth group the nation’s security can rely on and schools can also depend on when it comes to discipline. GBC
