Re-Registration Of NHIS Card Holders Ends With Low Patronage

The re-registration of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card registrants has ended nationwide recording low turnout. 

The exercise was to ensure that more than fifty six thousand NHIS card holders whose names were deleted from the voters register following an order by the Supreme Court were captured onto the electoral roll. 

The first phase of the exercise which began on July, 18 to 28 was extended as some thirty thousand deleted NHIS card registrants were yet to be re-registered. 

At the end of the exercise in the Western region today, more than one thousand people had not cross checked their names to be re-registered. 

The Western regional Director of the EC, Steven Opoku Mensah, in an interview with Radio Ghana said these NHIS card registrants are likely to be disenfranchised come December 7.
