Government opens tender for new national carrier Government has opened a competitive tender process for the award of contract on a new national carrier which would soon be established to support government's vision of making the Kotoka International Airport an aviation hub in the sub region. The Minister of Transport, Fiifi Kwetey, who disclosed this at the Meet-the-press series in Accra, said his outfit is currently accepting and would soon evaluate expression of interest made in the project. He said the government would consider a public private partnership strategy that would ensure that past mistakes that led to a virtual collapse of the national carrier is not repeated. As a result, he said, government had decided to increase the participation of the private sector which would cater for management and operation of the system, adding that it is in the interest of the government to make the carrier service more effective.
