Peace Walker, Isaac Annan arrived in Sunyani on Friday The Bono-Ahafo Regional Capital, Sunyani, on Friday, August 5, 2016, took its turn to welcome the Nationwide Sensitization Walk on Peaceful Elections 2016. The Sensitization Walk which is under the theme: "Sustaining peace before, during and after Elections: The role of Political Parties", features a Sportsman and ex fire Officer, Isaac Annan of Cape Coast in the Central Region Walking the length and breadth of Ghana preaching the message of peace. Radio Ghana’s Correspondent John Sam-Arthur joined the Peace Walk and reports that, on arrival in the Bono-Ahafo Regional Capital, Isaac Annan and his team, led by Coordinator of the Nationwide Sensitization Walk on Peaceful Elections 2016, Coleman Darko, were received by a Contingent of Security Services, consisting of the Ghana Army, The Police Service, The Fire Service, and the Prisons Service. Also in the welcoming party were officials of the Regional Coordinating Council. Amidst blaring sirens and brass band music, the Peace Walker led the Security Services on a procession through the streets of Sunyani before finally gathering at the old Station in the Central Business District for some peace messages. Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Bono-Ahafo Regional Minister, Justice Agyei, dispelled the perception that the Leaders and other influential people in the Country have passports and the means to travel abroad and will flee the country in case of unrest. He said violent conflict is deadly and unpredictable and you never know what will make it impossible to grab a passport and flee. He said the best thing is to protect the peace Ghana enjoys so it can continue to develop. He advised Ghanaians to take a cue from what happened in the Ivory Coast, adding that very well to do Ivoirians are now living in Camps in Ghana as refugees due to the conflict that erupted in the Country over leadership. In an interview Mr. Annan said he sees the effort to sensitize Ghanaians to strive for peace at all times as his contribution to a Peaceful Elections 2016. He said in Africa, elections are a threat to peace hence the need for the Citizenry to go all out to keep Ghana peaceful in the heat of electioneering. The Nationwide Sensitization Walk on Peaceful Elections 2016 started on the 28th of June from the Eastern Regional Capital, Koforidua and has so far gone through Ho in the Volta Region, Bolgatanga, Upper East, Wa Upper West and Tamale the Northern Regional capital, before hitting the Bono-Ahafo Region. From Sunyani, the Peace Walker, Isaac Annan is scheduled to go through the Asante Region before going on to the Western Region, Central Region and the climax in the National Capital Accra on the 9th of September.
