Nationwide Substations upgrade improving power supply-GRIDCO The Chief Executive of the Ghana GRID Company, GRIDCO, William Amuna, says the ongoing upgrade of the Company’s substations across the Country is helping to improve power supply instead of negatively impacting it. He said GRIDCO inherited four thousand-124 kilometers circuit lines and 38 substations from the Volta River Authority during the transmission in 2008 and has improved upon its network and reliability to five thousand-460 kilometers circuit lines with 58 substations. Speaking to GBC News in Tema on the side-lines of the launch of the Company’s Performance Management System and Code of Ethics, Mr. Amuna stated that it is their hope to achieve high capacity transmission network of about six-thousand-244 kilometer circuit lines, of which 10 percent will comprise 330 kilovolts with highly skilled and motivated staff, integrated business systems enabling on-line power equipment monitoring and workflow management with best practices in environmental management by 2017.
