Russia to compete in most Rio events

The head of the Russian olympic committee Alexander Zhukov has confirmed that 271 Russian Athletes have been cleared to compete in the Rio 2016 games which begin on Friday.

Russia’s track and field and weightlifting teams have already been barred, but with the International Olympic committee’s earlier announcement around 70 per cent of the Russian team has been cleared to take part.
