Fury at Prisons Service over diversion of donations THE GHANAIAN TIMES: describes as unhealthy the diversion of donations meant for prison inmates by some wardens. According to the Paper, the practice which is complained about by both officers and inmates on the quite, took the Chairman of the Prisons Service Council, Reverend Dr. Stephen Wengam to issue a warning letter to all the prisons in a bid to stop the practice. It says the act puts the service in the bad light since the daily stipend given for food is woefully inadequate and the donations are expected to supplement it. It is therefore inappropriate for the officers to divert the donations for their personal use and deny the prisoners what is due them. GHANAIAN TIMES
