Lawyers for Montie 3 petition President Mahama Lawyers for the host and two panelists of Montie FM, who were jailed by the Supreme Court last week have presented a petition to the Flagstaff house in Accra. The petition was received by the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah. The lawyers are Nana Adjei Ampofo, Nana Ato Dadzie, George Loh and Edudzi Tamakloe. Last week, the lawyers expressed their intention to petition President Mahama. In a statement, they noted that they do not believe citizens of Ghana ought to be committed to prison for infractions on free expression especially in the light of the repeal of the criminal libel law. They are therefore appealing to the President to use his prerogative of pardon to free the three who are now known as the Montie trio. GBC
