Merchant Shot Dead On Tamale- Kintampo Highway Reports reaching Radio Ghana indicate that a 35-year-old merchant has been shot dead in an alleged robbery attack at Buipe in the Northern Region in the early hours of Monday. The deceased identified as Adamu Bisa Bidor, together with other traders, who traveled from Kumasi to the area to buy cattle, were attacked by a gang of robbers while taking a rest in a kiosk close to the Tamale-Kintampo Highway. The Central Gonja District Police Commander, DSP Kingsley Owusu Antwi confirmed the incident to Radio Ghana and said he was yet to be briefed about details of the incident. DSP Owusu Antwi said personnel were deployed to the scene upon a distress call but could not make any arrest. He said the Police are gathering intelligence on the incident and advised the public to volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of the criminals. Brother of the deceased told GBC’s correspondent Mohammed Fugu, that the incident happened around 4:15am when the robbers attacked them in their sleep and also took away a bag containing huge sums of money. According to him, his brother held one of the robbers and while struggling with him, another robber who had fled returned and shot him at close range thrice. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue. GBC
