30th July, 2016 The Daily Graphic commends the government and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) management for improving on the facilities at both the main Tema Port and the fishing harbour to take in more freight and make transactions less cumbersome and transparent. It says neighbouring countries which are waterlocked/landlocked have to depend on the road network in the country which is not in good shape to transport heavy goods to and from the ports. Graphic says the government needs to revamp its rail infrastructure to aid foreigners to transport its goods. The paper urges the government to do all in its power not only to bring back rail transport but make it vibrant and able to compete with road transport not only for cargo but passengers too. The Ghanaian Times says now that the re-registration has come to an end, it is time for everyone to rally behind the Electoral Commission to carry on with the rest of the programmes for the election in December. It says the completion of the re-registration exercise and the removal of the names should give Ghanaians hope that the EC has managed to clean the electoral roll. The Times is confident that the EC can conduct another successful election that would be acceptable to all the contestants and voters as well. GBC
