Iran to enhance medical co-operation with Ghana

Iran says it is ready to enhance its medical co-operation with Ghana. To this end, more Iranian doctors will be brought into the country to support the healthcare system. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hannah Tetteh, made this known when the Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister called on her in Accra.  

She said 10 students will also be given scholarships to study in the sciences and other areas in Iran. 

The visit by the Iranian delegation was to see how best to strengthen the Joint Commission for co-operation for both countries.  

The meeting also discussed various issues of mutual benefit.  These include politics, economics, trade, industry and energy. 
 
Ghana`s Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh said the presence of the business delegation offers Ghanaians the opportunity to discuss some business ideas with their counterparts.

The Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif described the visit as a multifaceted one which will explore all areas. 

The two Ministers of Foreign Affairs emphasised the importance of international collaboration to combat the phenomena of terrorism and extremism which are currently major threats to international peace and security. 

Dr.  Javad Zarif later called on the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho who stressed the importance of parliamentary co-operation and the major role the two parliaments could play to deepen the relationship between the two countries. 

A joint trade forum was also organised to provide an ideal environment for the exchange of ideas and the development of an action plan for Ghana- Iran trade relations.
