Veteran actor, Jagga Pee appeals for support
 

Veteran actor, Abeiku Nyame, popularly known as “Jagga Pee”, has called on President John Mahama to support him settle his medical bills.

The actor has been battling with a heart ailment for some months now. Repoorts say he was recently rushed to the Holy Trinity Hospital at North Kaneshie and later transferred to the 37 Military Hospital.

Speaking in an interview with an Accra based radio station, (Starr FM), Jaga Pee said he had been in and out of the hospital for some time now until doctors recently diagnosed him of a heart disease.

“I have spent virtually everything I had on my ailment and the bills have piled up so much that I can no longer pay for it, as I speak with you now I’m owing Holy Trinity and 37 Military Hospital.

"The doctors have given me some medications and if my situation does not improve I will have to undergo a heart surgery”, the actor bemoaned.

”I would like to use the opportunity to appeal to President Mahama to come to my aid through his “Celebrities for Mahama” project”.

“Celebrities for Mahama” is a project initiated by president Mahama that seeks to better the welfare of Ghanaian veteran actors and musicians with Mr. Beautiful as the coordinator.

Veteran actors who have benefited from “Celebrities for Mahama” project includes Ewurama Badu, Kohwe, C.K. Mann, J.A Adofo, Paapa Yankson, Mr. Mensah, and William Addo.

Abeiku was one of the leading actors and made a tremendous contribution to the Ghanaian movie industry until an unfortunate situation took him to prison in 1996. Abeiku has featured in a number of movies such as landlord and TV series like “Chorkor Trotro.”

Jagga Pee, it would be recalled, was charged alongside a music star, Geeman, in 1995 following a shooting incident at the CFC Flats, Dome in Accra, where a taxi driver was killed.

Geeman was sentenced to death while Jagga Pee also got a life sentence but former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s amnesty in commemoration of the country’s 48th independence anniversary was extended to Jagga Pee who immediately relocated to the UK.

In 2006 he was arrested by British security agencies, following his suspected involvement in a financial misdemeanor in London. He was later deported from Britain.
