Salary Arrears: NAGRAT urges members to disregard 'gov't intention' to verify validated documents

The National Association of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT, has asked its members to disregard any statement purported to be coming from the Ghana Education Service about government's intention to conduct a verification of documents that have been validated before payment is made for salary arrears. 

Speaking on Radio Ghana's Current Affairs Programme ‘Behind the News’ its National President, Christian Addai-Poku said the agreement was reached after an emergency meeting yesterday. 

He said so far about 13,700 teachers have been validated and the Ministry of Finance has issued them with certificate.

Mr. Addia Poku said the Ministry has assured them of payment of the arrears by the end of June.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service Rev. Jonathan Bettey, says GES staff will not be re-validated before they receive their salary arrears but rather they will embark on a field exercise after the payment.
