Africa wants partnership not sympathy - President Mahama

President John Mahama says Africa needs fair partnerships and opportunities not sympathy from the rest of the world as the continent moves to better the lives of its people. 

In his message on social media to commemorate the 53rd AU Day Wednesday, the President said over the last decade, African countries have been working to improve their democratic credentials and economic prospects. 

President Mahama who is a former Chairman of the AU High Level African Trade Committee (HATC) noted that the African middle class is the fastest growing class in the world today.  

While acknowledging the singleness of purpose with which Africa is driving global affairs, he said, Africa's voice is now stronger and more respected in the world, hence the need for the developed world to partner it.
