Nana Addo urges PURC to act on high electricity tariffs 

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo says the PURC should find a way to reduce the electricity tariffs in the country immediately rather than suspending the ECG`s billing system.  

A statement by Nana Addo said, the rates being charged on industries as well as domestic users compared to Cote d’Ivoire, puts Ghanaian enterprises in an uncompetitive situation.

According to Nana Addo this is largely due to the numerous taxes imposed on electricity by the government. 

Nana Addo said, if the numerous taxes are significantly reduced, the electricity tariff in the country will fall drastically .
