Religious leaders call for peace among political leaders

The Parish Priest of Christ the King Catholic Church, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, has called for unity among leaders in the country as the nation heads to the polls. 

According to him, peaceful co-existence and tolerance for each other’s views are paramount to another historic peaceful election this year. Rev Father Campbell was speaking at the 65th Anniversary of the Church in Accra. 

The Acting Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church-Ghana, Rev Samuel Aaron Amoako has called on politicians to exercise high sense of maturity, decorum and self-control during electioneering this year.  

He is also appealed to key actors in the elections to allow the Electoral Commission to exercise its mandatory duties as an independent statutory institution, adding that frequent litigation with the Commission could mar processes for free and fair elections.  

Rev Amoako, a legal practitioner and substantive Synod Moderator of the E.P Church Ho-East Presbytery was speaking at a  thanksgiving service to climax activities marking the third Synod of the E.P Church Meridian Presbytery at Dodowa near Accra.
