New mechanism to address plastic menace in the offing

The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA is considering a new mechanism to enforce the law to address the plastic menace in the country.  

The Sector Minister, Mahama Ayariga said the use of biodegradable additives which is a long term solution is what is being pursued.  

Mr. Ayariga said this at a news briefing on World Biodiversity Day when he answered a question on the ban of certain plastics last year.
