NPP MP for Abuakwa North, Gifty Twum Ampofo takes seat in parliament The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has sworn-in the NPP Member of Parliament-elect for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Gifty Twum Ampofo. Madam Twum Ampofo was elected in a bye-election following the death of the MP for the area, J.B Dankwa-Adu. The Speaker welcomed the MP to the House and expressed joy that her election is an improvement in the female representation in the House. She was led to recite the Oath of a Member of Parliament and the Oath of Allegiance. Welcoming the new MP, the Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu entreated her to learn quickly to contribute to the work of the House. The Majority Leader, Alban Bagbin, also urged Gifty Twum Ampofo to study the code of conduct for MPs and other documents of the House to enable her to follow proceedings and adequately represent her people. He was also glad that another female has joined the House. Madam Twum Ampofo replaced the late MP for Abuakwa North, J.B Dankwa-Adu, who was murdered at his Shiashie residence in Accra on Tuesday, 9th February this year. He has since been buried. GBC
